Water Planet

This large print composed of six panels began with a drawing done upon awakening from a dream. I have wanted to emulate my favorite woodblock printmaker, Carol Summers, since 1966 when I bought the large print now hanging over my bed.

I think of Water Planet as a “fly over”. From the bluffs overlooking the beautiful north coast of Kaua`i, I saw far out to the horizon and down onto forest and sand. The sea inundates, then retreats, leaving a gray purple band of wet sand. After a while, the entire island seems to be heaving up and down, an awesome experience for this Vermonter.

A fuller title would be:
Water Planet,
Tidal motion,
Swelling and receding ocean.

I cut wood blocks based on the drawing and printed five proof sets from the blocks. Cone Editions will print the remainder of the edition as Archival Pigment Prints.

Framed prints: Each of the six panels are mounted on archival board with reversible archival mounting tissue and framed with no margin using a German Silver frame and Plexiglas. The six together read as a panorama when hung with no space between. Contact us if you’d like to see a photo of the framing up close. It’s handsome. When I sign these prints, I sign, number, and title on the image.
